Biography

His work alternates between the fields of music and film. In 1996 he adapted an autobiographical book by Pasolini into the creative documentary Qui je suis. His first feature film Something Organic (1998), was presented in the Panorama section of the Berlin Festival, and his next work, The Pornographer (2001), at the Cannes Critics’ Week, where it won the Fipresci award. He competed in the Official Selection of Cannes for the first time with Tiresia (2003), and in 2008 he presented On War in the festival’s Fortnight. A regular presence at the French competition, he has presented his feature films House of Tolerance (2011), Saint Laurent (2014; represented France at the Oscars and received ten César nominations.) and Zombi Child (2020) there, while he premiered Nocturama (2016) in San Sebastian, Coma (2022) in Berlin and The Beast (2023) in Venice. In 2014 he was the subject of an exhibition at the Centre Pompidou and published his album ‘Accidents’.
