Estibaliz Urresola has two bachelor's degrees: in Audiovisual Communication, from the University of the Basque Country, and in Film Editing from the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión. Urresola holds two master’s degrees, in Film Direction and Film Business, and in Marketing, distribution and international sales from the Cinema and Audiovisual School of Catalonia (ESCAC). In 2021 she started directing short films, Adri and Polvo Somos and her latest one, Cuerdas, premiered at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes and won several national and international awards, including the Forqué Award for Best Short Film. Her feature documentary Voces de papel, premiered at the San Sebastian International Festival. 20,000 Species of Bees is her debut feature fiction film and premiered in the Official Section of the Berlinale, Sofia Otero being awarded the Silver Bear for Best Performance.
