The fifth film in the 'Dity Harry' series. Notorious hard man Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) is unhappy when he becomes the target of macabre interest when his name appears on an anonymous hit list - not that he minds being singled out by killers, just that he doesn't like appearing on a list which also features rock stars and TV celebrities. Aided by a new karate-kicking partner (Evan C. Kim) and bugged by an ambitious journalist (Patricia Clarkson), Callahan sets out to chase down the would-be assassins and creates all kinds of mayhem in the process. (Warner Home Video)

Yet another chapter in the Dirty Harry saga. Much like its predecessor Sudden Impact, it has solidified for me that the 70s version of Harry Callahan was better than his 80s version. It's not necessarily about the character's advancing age; the older stories simply felt more gripping. This time, the main villain was shrouded in mystery for quite some time, but upon reveal, he fell flat for me, barely registering as noteworthy. Harry seemed to spend more time at dinners than delivering his trademark dry remarks, and if not for the Italian mafiosos, I might have struggled to stay entertained. / Lesson learned: When aiming for a catch, it's best to wield a harpoon. 3*-

Definitely the weakest part of the whole series, where I didn't even have the feeling that Harry Callahan had such an important role. It was more about making a film that would appeal to the younger audience, so strange characters were introduced and the focus was on making it cool, rather than actually good. Even Neeson doesn't stand out much here, except for that ponytail.
