English A very average movie that drags almost unpleasantly for most its runtime. Basically, it had the same effect as Barker’s stories in literary form: nothing great, just the acknowledgement of some sort of indisputable dark quality. ()

English Well, so I liked it a lot. The slower, more depressing atmosphere suited me fine. Likewise the special effects and masks were really up to par. I'm knocking off a star for illogical and awkward jump scares, which I hate in general. More books of blood though. Haunting as it should be. ()

English I like Clive Barker’s books, but the film doesn't even feel like it was based on his work. Absolutely pathetic screenplay, not even worth filming. It’s a shame because with someone capable in charge, Barker’s books can be turned into something as good as Hellraiser. ()

English The film Book of Blood is essentially just a case of stripping away all the interesting aspects from Barker's books, leaving only the story, from which the filmmakers made something like a classic horror about paranormal investigators with one good idea, but one that Barker himself already had. In my opinion, the film missed the mark by a wide margin, and it failed to extract much from that good idea, mostly just falling into horror clichés. ()
