The Lannisters' control over the Iron Throne remains intact, but can they survive their own egos as well as the ongoing threats around them? While an unshaken Stannis Baratheon continues to rebuild his army on Dragonstone, a more immediate danger comes from the south, as Oberyn Martell, the Lannister-loathing "Red Viper of Dorne," arrives at King's Landing to attend Joffrey's wedding. At the Wall, the Night's Watch seems overmatched against Mance Rayder's advancing army of wildlings, which in turn is being trailed by an even more formidable foe. What's more, Daenerys Targaryen, accompanied by her fierce trio of dragons and an Unsullied army, is poised to "liberate" Meereen, the largest Slaver City in the east, which could provide her with an imposing force to execute her ultimate plan of reclaiming the Iron Throne for her family. Season 4 brought a number of great moments, but it didn't fix the biggest problem with the entire series – all the blathering. I think the best example is the conversation between Tyrion and Jaime in Episode 8 about bugs and Orson Lannister, just brilliant. All I can say is WHY?? The Wall is partially cloudy, with less interesting scenes still dominating, just like Daenerys' storyline. The Hound and Arya Stark, on the other hand, were excellent throughout.

The best season so far for sure, grandiose, spectacular. artistically ambitious, stylish. Yet there is no lack of emotion, a distinctive storyline with the characters and their interconnectedness, or a raw medieval atmosphere with everything that belongs to it and more (fantasy elements). Finally, you can see the maturing of the actors not only script-wise (as characters) but also in terms of age. Especially in the case of the younger cast, this is a natural, impressive and essentially unprecedented greatness in films, which gives the series the hallmark of authenticity and a wide time span that no film can convey.
