Blackwater (S02E09)

In the ninth episode, the creators really surprised me. I was expecting drumming before the battle, cuts and counting the dead after the fight, but no. When the preparations for the battle were not taking place, there was actually fighting, and despite some extras clearly not paying attention during the instructions and acting comically in the battle scenes, the whole thing worked very well, all complemented nicely by Cersei's monologue to Sansa, and I was satisfied. The best episode of the series so far, hands down. The gripping battle of Kings Landing is not as pompous and clear as the battle scenes in famous films like Gladiator or the Lord of The Rings trilogy. But it does not lack drive, an excellent wartime atmosphere and many unexpected twists and turns in the course of the action. (08/05/2017)
