Plots(1)

Suave secret agent Sterling Archer is the world's most dangerous spy, but political intrigue and global crises are nothing compared to the sexual tension and human resources crises at the intelligence agency where he works. Archer must deal with his over-bearing, over-sexed mother--who is also his boss--and his femme fatale ex-girlfriend who seems to be sleeping with everyone except him. Embezzlement, mind control, hangovers, and demented double crossings--they're all in a day's work in this outrageously raunchy comedy! (official distributor synopsis)

Reviews of this series by the user Necrotongue (25)

Season 1 (2009) (S01)

English Season 1 was very satisfying to watch. True, there were a few dull moments, most of them in the weaker Episode 8, but otherwise it was great fun. The creators used the kind of humor that most people avoid, namely the politically incorrect kind, with which they immediately won me over. The amoral, constantly wisecracking Sterling Archer (Duchess) instantly became one of my favorite animated characters. ()

Mole Hunt (2009) (S01E01)

English I was expecting anything, but nevertheless, the first episode surprised me. The main protagonist, Sterling Archer, must be a nightmare for every die-hard feminist. Even to me, he seemed incredibly self-centered jerk.. and I used to be a guy :-) Anyway, it was a great fun and I am looking forward to the next development. ()

Training Day (2010) (S01E02)

English The second episode was great, the creators of the series excellently dig into "forbidden" topics and send political correctness exactly where many politicians and other sunny enthusiasts do not see the sun. Moreover, there was also a lesson, I never knew that a living priestess of love is a prostitute, but only a brush once dead. ()

Diversity Hire (2010) (S01E03)

English The arrival of Agent Conway Stern on the scene nicely stirred up the plot of the third episode. Sterling Archer's logical processes were amazing when Sterling is circumcised, and yet he is not Jewish, why couldn't he be a non-Jewish circumcised person, right? :-) The creators are currently doing a great job entertaining me, I hope they will continue in that. ()

Killing Utne (2010) (S01E04)

English Honestly, Mr. Utne was somewhat of a damper on the humor and the fourth episode didn't brighten me up as much as the previous two episodes did. However, there were as many ways of death prepared as if Rasputin was attending a dinner. A slightly weaker piece, but still of good quality. ()

Honeypot (2010) (S01E05)

English It looked like I would rate it with four stars for a long time, but then there was an unexpected understanding between Sterling and his target, Archer's butler proved to be an extremely sociable individual, and even the duo of homosexual killers helped push the plot forward to the fifth piece. 5* ()

Skorpio (2010) (S01E06)

English The sixth episode started quite inconspicuously with a task to obtain a shipment of guided missiles and Cyril's internal struggle (jealousy, insecurity, and low self-esteem), but quickly escalated into a relationship chaos, explosions of sexuality, and in one case, a rather perverted affair with a spoon. ()

Skytanic (2010) (S01E07)

English Although the episode did not take place on a yacht, but on a luxurious airship, the creators returned to the proven approach from the previous installment and once again created a fantastic entanglement of relationships. I can't help it, but after every episode, I enjoy imagining how all the self-proclaimed moralists must squirm while watching the series. ()

The Rock (2010) (S01E08)

English There was a strike of support staff in ISIS, and the idea itself wasn't bad, but the execution didn't please me too much; so far, it has been the weakest episode. The creators focused on the strike in such a way that they somewhat overshadowed the main entertaining characters and thus the humor as well. ()

Job Offer (2010) (S01E09)

English Fuj, I'm relieved! After the last weaker episode, another very high-quality episode came. Sterling and Lana returned to the center of the action again and it was noticeable. The humor immediately jumped to a higher level, the awkward moments disappeared, and I had a great time again. If Archer makes my diaphragm hurt, it must be from full-on laughter. ()

Dial M for Mother (2010) (S01E10)

English Even the final episode did not disappoint me, the opening was worth it, the ban on workplace relationships (but only from Friday) was excellent, Lana's confrontation with treacherous Cyril was even better, and Pam finally got what she deserved (off-screen - fortunately). The final understanding between mother and son was of good quality :-) ()

Season 2 (2011) (S02)

English I was worried that after Season 1 someone would consider the incorrect humor to be way out of line and tone it down, but nothing of the sort happened. On the contrary, the cancer episodes went even further and were excellent :-) So I don’t need to worry about Season 3, I'm just looking forward to it. Everything I liked about the first season was there and a few great ideas were added, so five stars it is. ()

Swiss Miss (2011) (S02E01)

English Snow-covered Swiss Alps, frantic snow scooter chases, even more frantic shooting, Jacuzzi orgies, and a sixteen-year-old virgin nymphomaniac - what more can a person ask for from a twenty-minute episode of an animated series? Only a generous portion of politically incorrect humor, but that was also not lacking, so clearly a full score. ()

A Going Concern (2011) (S02E02)

English The second episode was completely different from the previous one, there was a lot less action, and yet the creators managed to entertain me the whole time. The character of Doctor Krieger is winning me over more and more, if there was a vote, I would raise my hand to give it more space. ()

Blood Test (2011) (S02E03)

English This time I hesitated a bit, the episode didn't really grab me, so I was considering giving it a better three-star rating, but the complexity of the plot twist involving a blood sample exchange, and especially how the sexual predator Cyril enjoyed himself even while unconscious, ultimately pushed my rating a bit higher. ()

Pipeline Fever (2011) (S02E04)

English If I were objective, I would admit that the fourth episode was weaker and I would rate it one star lower, but since I always evaluate subjectively, I won't make an exception this time either. I was entertained by the opening scene on the plane, I laughed at the cost-saving measures, and Lan's monologue about dry ice surprised me, even though I come from a mining region. ()

The Double Deuce (2011) (S02E05)

English The fifth episode was so different... It wasn't actually about ISIS, Woodhouse took most of the space with his memories of the Great War, which sometimes reminded me of the Legend of Passion. Because as a child I read several books about Biggles, I won't go under four. ()

Tragical History (2011) (S02E06)

English The sixth episode of the second season was a success for the creators, I really don't understand how ISIS could exist at all if it had such brain capacities like Sterling and Cyril in its ranks. I don't even know why, but the whole time I had an unshakable feeling that there would be a Nespresso commercial. ()

Movie Star (2011) (S02E07)

English I won't lie, despite the action-packed episode, I didn't have a very good feeling about it and I wasn't enjoying myself as much as I expected. And right until the very end, I was convinced that I wouldn't give it more than three stars, but the mumbled ending of the episode actually made me laugh, and I did add one more point. 4* ()

Stage Two (2011) (S02E08)

English Brutal humor and cynicism were purring with delight in me. Filmmakers often use this theme too frequently for emotional manipulation, so I took the episode as a refreshing breath of fresh air needed in the general staleness. The top quote became clearly the sentence, "And do you know that I have cancer?", and the phone calls with the doctor were flawless. ()
