It's sometime in the near future. HAL was living happily with Kurumi until he passed away from a plane accident. Kurumi who is devastated by the loss, starts to shut herself from the outside world. As a part of her therapy, an android robot Q01 which looks exactly like HAL is sent to her home and to live together. Kurumi's initial reaction was rejection towards HAL. Gradually, with the help from other friends, Kurumi starts to open up... (Shochiku)

Hal features a narrative based on an interesting topic, although I do not feel it was developed interestingly enough. Apart from the final surprise with the robot, there was practically no moment that could have pleased me more. It was enjoyable on the whole, even though it was also kind of disjointed and a bit peculiar. The animation is pleasant enough, and the soundtrack was okay too. However, on the whole, it was missing some kind of significant emotional impact. It also lacked the punch needed to affect my thoughts or anything else. 6/10.
