English Mr. Sloane repeatedly acts like a bull in a china shop, which also brings with it an endless series of great social collisions and embarrassments. The series can rely on the excellent performance of Nick Frost in the lead role and on the ability of the screenwriters to write funny dialogues and keep the series at a high level even when bodily fluids come into play. And there are indeed quite a few of these moments among the veterans of gentlemen's parties in the surrounding pubs. Truly, those old bachelors, widowers, and desperate divorcees don't have it easy. Overall impression: 90%. ()

English The first time I saw Nick Frost was in Shaun of the Dead and he instantly became my favorite. Via other movies with Simon Pegg and The Boat that Rocked I made it to Mr. Sloane and I have no regrets. The series was entertaining on both fronts, comedy as well as drama. Nick Frost did an excellent job playing the title character, and I enjoyed it even more thanks to the awesome retro vibe that was maintained throughout the whole show. ()

English An excellent series that artfully balances the line between humor and melancholy. I enjoyed Nick Frost as the eternal underdog. I really laughed at many of his mishaps, and at the same time, I felt sorry for him when he couldn't find a way out of desperate life situations. It's quite a shame there wasn't a sequel. The filmmakers seem to have followed the good old truth that the best things should stop. ()
