The Expanse (2015)

English I've always been a big fan of The Expanse, and still am because it's one of those rare sci-fi series that stays true to its genre throughout. Sure, there were moments where the creators veered off into tear-inducing melodrama, a trend particularly popular in the States, but they always managed to find their way back. After the second-to-last season, I wasn't expecting any redemption, but it came, and boy, was it worth it. / Lesson learned: In unity there is strength, but how to maintain that unity? ()

Season 1 (2015) (S01)

English The first season was far from disappointing, I had a great time. I liked how they grafted the detective genre onto a sci-fi, with both levels working very well. True, I did come across a few illogical moments, but I chose to ignore most of them. There are other series where they are impossible to ignore. I believe the creators managed to handle the political stratagems and loopholes between Earth, Mars and the Asteroid Belt very well. I'm curious to see how things will develop in Season 2. ()

Dulcinea (2015) (S01E01)

English The first episode really drew me in to watch the series, even though I was a bit confused at first due to the quick changing of locations. Luckily, I quickly tuned in to the right wavelength, the story intrigued me, it had a nice atmosphere, and there was no shortage of suspense and action. Additionally, I found it amusing that even the United Nations have their own Guantánamo. ()

The Big Empty (2015) (S01E02)

English The second episode was slightly more restrained compared to the previous one in terms of action, but the story was still sufficiently interesting. I enjoy the combination of Sci-Fi and detective elements, which, after two episodes, seems completely functional to me. I firmly hope that they will continue to maintain the current quality. ()

Remember the Cant (2015) (S01E03)

English This time, I had a really good time. The political situation started to reflect even more in everything, and the plot in the asteroid belt is beginning to remind me of cyberpunk, which is only good. I have to appreciate that the creators didn't resort to creating any extraterrestrial beings, so Martians look just like humans I can meet on the street. And Jared Harris also appeared, he always pleases me. ()

CQB (2015) (S01E04)

English Torpedoes were flying, blue-flashing cannons were shooting, and only Captain Jason Nesmith and his fearless crew were missing aboard the Protector. Yeah, yeah, I found some places where the logic was missing, but on the other hand, Mormons are building their own ship, so it's fine. ()

Back to the Butcher (2016) (S01E05)

English The fifth episode mainly focused on Miller's investigation and after the previous episode, there was some calming down. There was less action, the firing of energy cannons disappeared, but the quality atmosphere returned. Miller obtained new information regarding his case and I learned something new about the bloody past of the Asteroid Belt. ()

Rock Bottom (2016) (S01E06)

English As I mentioned earlier, I don't mind episodes with a slower pace if they have something to say, but this time I felt like I could do without this episode. Miller's conversation with Dawes and his subsequent last-minute rescue didn't fill me with any enthusiasm, and the events at Tycho station didn't convince me either. ()

Windmills (2016) (S01E07)

English To be honest, I enjoyed the seventh episode the most during the moments when Chrisjen Avasarala and her political moves were driving the plot. The events on board the Rocinante didn't grab me as much, and this time Miller was sidelined. And I really think that the creators should significantly reduce the last-minute rescues. 3*+ ()

Salvage (2016) (S01E08)

English Finally, I've got another quality episode. In this case, I had a lot of fun. First, the creators managed to create an almost "Alien-like" atmosphere while exploring the depths of Anubis. There was also a lot of action on the Eros station and a strong ending. ()

Critical Mass (2016) (S01E09)

English If the previous episode had a strong ending, the ninth episode had a strong beginning. Julie Mao's final moments were very well executed and nicely illuminated some important moments for the viewer. The events on the Eros station gained momentum and I enjoyed the entire time. ()

Leviathan Wakes (2016) (S01E10)

English The final episode disappointed me a bit. The storyline of Miller and Holden felt quite uneventful and even boring, and the group's move under Naomi Nagata's leadership wasn't anything special either. However, I was pleased with the open ending, or rather, open endings, at least I have something to look forward to. ()

Season 2 (2017) (S02)

English The second season made a better impression on me than the first one. I felt that the creators already knew exactly what they wanted, and the story seemed more coherent despite its many storylines. What annoyed me were several major illogicalities (I ignored the minor ones), the quality control should have been more rigorous :-) ()

Safe (2017) (S02E01)

English The start of the second season maintains the same high-quality atmosphere, tension, and political intrigue as the previous season. It looks like the Martians are going to get more screen time this season, which I’m excited about. I also enjoyed the storyline around Chrisjen Avasarala. Overall, a solid start to the season. ()

Doors & Corners (2017) (S02E02)

English I enjoyed the first episode, but the second one really stepped it up a notch. The atmosphere was still great, the tension ramped up, and we got some serious action, including an epic space battle. The attack on the Spin Station was well-executed, and Chrisjen Avasarala's political maneuvers added even more intrigue. Five stars without a doubt. ()

Static (2017) (S02E03)

English Compared to the action-packed previous episode, the third one was much calmer. The repairs on the Rocinante couldn't hold my interest for long, so I was leaning towards three stars. But then Amos actually used his brain (!!), Miller threw me for a loop, and I'm eager to see what Chrisjen Avasarala will do next. So, four stars it is. ()

Godspeed (2017) (S02E04)

English I was thoroughly entertained by the gripping plot from start to finish. Chrisjen Avasarala is finally on the right track, but the highlight was the brilliantly executed space action around Eros. Yep, it seems like Doctors Without Borders aren't just making mistakes on Earth... ()

Home (2017) (S02E05)

English A more subdued continuation of the previous episode, creating a well-balanced whole. The tension between Mars and Earth reminded me a lot of the Cuban Missile Crisis, where the Cold War nearly turned into a blazing hot one. Meanwhile, Miller is having some very close encounters... ()

Paradigm Shift (2017) (S02E06)

English Episode six was a bit of a letdown for me. I spent way too much time with Mr. Epstein, and the happenings on Tycho felt pretty dull. The events on Ganymede were confusing. However, I did appreciate getting to know the Martian marine squad in such detail — definitely not a waste of time... ()

The Seventh Man (2017) (S02E07)

English Definitely an improvement over the last episode, though it still wasn't mind-blowing. The events made more sense, even if the power struggle in the OPA is as exciting as watching European Parliament debates. The political maneuvers on Earth were much more entertaining, and I'm curious to see how things will unfold on Ganymede. ()
