The story unfolds in 1950s Baltimore where a group of disenchanted twenty-somethings spend their days in a local diner, talking away their problems. Eddie (Steve Guttenberg) is reluctant to marry his fiancé, Shrevie (Daniel Stern) prefers to spend time with his friends rather than his wife Beth (Ellen Barkin), Billy (Tim Daly) has a pregnant girlfriend who won't marry him, Fenwick (Kevin Bacon) is smart but always drunk, and Boogie (Mickey Rourke) is an anarchic hairdresser with an eye for the ladies. English Two hours of conversation in one diner? No, it's not quite that simple, but even if it were, I'm almost certain that Levinson could have directed something with these actors that would be interesting and entertaining. The whole cast is trying incredibly hard and you can see that they had the ambition to become great actors. Some of them really succeeded, while unfortunately, some faded into obscurity. ()
