English This movie had so much wrong with it that I don’t even know where to start, but I somehow perversely enjoyed it. I found the two protagonists convincing enough, the script was pleasantly undemanding, the humor worked for me, and there was even enough action. I was impressed by what followed after enthusiastically yelling: "Justice!!", as well as how the Pakistani and the black woman reacted with relief to a "mere" garden-variety racist. Despite the above-mentioned flaws, A great time. ()

English It seems that several new promising comedians are rising in Hollywood, among whom Kumail Nanjiani definitely deserves your attention. Which doesn’t mean that he’s outshining Issa Rae. They make for a great duo (until this movie I didn’t even know Issa). A great subject matter, super fun, a chill-out comedy with everything that entails. Plus I must say that I like that hidden psychopathic side of Kumail’s, he’s enjoying it very much and lets it out in almost all his movies. And since I’m not sick of it yet, it worked to this movie’s advantage. I had a good laugh, which was something I really needed, so I was satisfied. ()

English One of those movies where I go expecting three stars and leave with a full score. The Americans haven’t made a slick comedy in a good two years (Game Night was the last one), so I'm uncompromisingly giving five stars here because it's a ride like a motherfucker. Kumail Nanjiani and the seductive Issa Rae are on the verge of a break-up and inadvertently witness a murder, of which they are also the prime suspects, and a wild game of timing begins that doesn't spare unexpected and amusing twists, tense situations and, most importantly, well-dosed humour, with quips coming in from all sides (Nice to meet you. How do you know its nice to meet me, what if am an asshole!). The final twist is also perfect, and most importantly the chemistry between the leads is impeccable, which only makes this wild night stronger. The highlight is the interrogation scene, it had me walking away laughing to the toilet. After a second viewing, the enthusiasm has fallen off a lot. Story****, Action***, Humor*****, Violence*, Entertainment*****, Music****, Visuals****, Atmosphere*****, Suspense****. 7/10. ()

English The Lovebirds relies on a cannonade of wisecracks and quips and the two leads. It is quite successful at times, but at others the film feels slightly awkward and forced. The verbal shootouts between Jibran and Leilani bothered me a bit at first, but then I got used to them and it was quite funny. I was most amused by the apartment break-in and the subsequent totally impromptu interrogation. In the end, it's an unpretentious and light-hearted piece of work that you probably won't remember after a few days. ()

English As a comedy, this is excellent. The comic side of it suited me a lot and I really enjoyed these two. The whole movie is really about them, the murder is just – though interesting – a plot device and also a playing ground for many funny moments. It starts the moment they meet and ends... with them too. No stuff around it, no pointlessness. Okay, the writers got a little carried away there towards the end, but that wasn't so reprehensible either. I honestly can't explain the ratings here. I haven't laughed this hard at a movie in a long time. A strong 4 stars. ()
