English If you've ever played "hearts" in your life, I’m sure you’ll agree there's no sight worse than the queen of spades (if you’re the one who gets stuck with it). Nobody plays cards in this film, but the rule about the queen of spades applies all the more. The Russians decided to go down the road of copying the American imperialists again and were surprisingly more successful than in their previous attempt. The atmosphere was slightly better than last time, the protagonist wasn’t a twelve-year-old girl, and I had a pretty good time. The screenwriter deserves an award for the character of the boy. If someone creates a character who drives me up the wall from the first moment he appears until the very end, consider it a job well done. It pisses me off just writing about that bastard... ()

English The Russian production Queen of Spades: Through the Looking Glass is a somewhat sad example of how the producers of this movie tried to play down its more Russian aspects in order for it to be accepted as a contemporary horror movie. As such, this example seems to highlight how non-American moviemakers, in general, try to conform to certain standards. I think that that is a great shame because Russia could have brought a lot of its own to the table in this regard. Despite all that, Queen of Spades: Through the Looking Glass has a very good atmosphere and great visuals. ()
