In the dead of winter, in the forest outside of Bastogne, Belgium, the men of Easy Company struggle to hold the line alone while fending off frostbite and hunger, having arrived with no winter clothes and little supplies and ammunition. Medic Eugene Roe is overwhelmed, on edge and close to combat exhaustion, when he finds friendship with a Belgian nurse. Easy Company spends a miserable Christmas in the trenches, but is buoyed after receiving the news that the German army's demand for surrender was met with General McAuliffe's defiant answer: "Nuts!" English My first foursome for one of the episodes only came because the creators incorporated a completely unnecessary storyline with a nurse. It was unnecessary mainly because the siege of Bastogne definitely didn't need to "enhance" itself with some touching almost romance, I mean, I think it was more than enough for a person to imagine being in the place of the boys from the 506th regiment. I also missed the information that Eugene Roe was nominated for the Medal of Honor for his actions at Bastogne. ()
