Plots(1)

A comedy about a semi-professional theatre ensemble that faces the bluntness of the communist authorities as well as its own staff limitations. The never-ending struggle to find meaning in their mutual work is extremely exhausting. Luckily, they are always rewarded with spontaneous audience approval. (Summer Film School)

English An appealing glossy positive construction satire in which Smoljak and Svěrák try to see what else they can get away with in the heyday of the Jára Cimrman Theatre. The scenes at the approval committees offer an answer to the question of where Smoljak's fondness for absurdist theatre came from. Time has not diminished how entertaining these sequences are, as anyone who has ever attended a grant committee or studio meeting knows. ()

English One of the films I could have easily given a full rating before the screening, and I wouldn't have been wrong. I love Cimrman’s humour, so watching a comedy that largely consists of unforgettable theatre scenes with the rest being filled with dialogues of people who live with this humour on a daily basis was tremendous and unceasing fun. English These days, every "singer" or "band" releases their Greatest Hits, even though most of them lack any kind of talent. An Uncertain Season is a film that wittily portrays the hardships of a non-communist theater during the communist regime, but also brings some of the greatest hits of the Jára Cimrman Theater. The letter to the radio read by Jaroslav Vozáb should be hammered home to every TV presenter or editor. They all deserve to be fired for their poor grasp of language. It would honestly surprise me if I gave this film anything lower than a five. When it comes to the Jára Cimrman Theater, I’m a diehard fan. ()

English Dear jump into one's own ranks. Although based on the joke scenes from individual games, thanks to a more serious main story, elevated to something more. Scoring as a theater group even off the stage is an art. ()
