In God We Trust (2000)

English Some pretty good ideas in one mini movie. I like to think of it as "some goofing around". It would be cool if someone just goofed around like this and made an equally fresh feature film out of it. Then my 5 stars would be on a whole other level. Yes, I really liked the script.

Game of Thrones (2011) (series)

English After dozens of recommendations, I finally watched the pilot. I have to say that it grabbed me right from the start so I watched the whole series in just three days. I think it's a perfect script full of quality intrigue and slightly erotic scenes. Some of the plot twists and betrayals are breathtaking. The music is also fantastic and often sent chills down my spine. A very good series all round. HBO rocks again. It's 99% for me.

Corpse Bride (2005)

English Pretty ugliness accompanies us in every Tim Burton movie... but here it's probably the prettiest of all. Built on a quality script, beautiful animation, and above all an extraordinary atmosphere. The film is also accompanied by masterful music and piano. Enjoyable in the original version and with Czech dubbing. A beautiful dark fairy tale full of feeling.

Bridesmaids (2011)

English An average comedy about above-average swashbuckling women. The first hour really wasn't that great, but the second part of the film and a few really excellent scenes (the one on the plane and Annie breaking the law in the car) saved the film overall. The fault, however, I see in the uninteresting script and the cast. I would have completely cut the sentimental scenes involving Annie's pie shop and the initial toast to the bride.

Transformers 3 (2011)

English I went to the cinema thinking I was going to see a five-star film. After the first hour, I knew it was barely going to be 4 stars, and after another half hour I figured I wouldn't give it more than 3 stars. But then came the relentlessly long and repetitive ending and I can't even give it those 3. I liked Huntington-Whiteley until the fights started... then it just got ridiculous. Some of the effects weren't bad, of course, but the 3D was again completely unnecessary. A clean 2 stars.

Veni, Vidi, Vici (2009)

English A film that left me with nothing and didn't move me in any way. I'm quite tolerant of Czech film, but to give it at least a few stars, I have to be entertained. I see a lot of familiar faces here, but I don't like seeing them all (Kocurová is a mumbling tragedy!!). The script is completely bland, the atmosphere is wannabe luxe, and the music is insanely over the top. Overall impression: a useless film that the cinema didn't deserve. 1.5 stars.

Flipped (2010)

English I see this as a beautiful unadulterated story of childhood love told from two different perspectives. I was moved by the nice music and the natural atmosphere. I'm just not thrilled with the ending. It was in the spirit of the whole film, it ended well, but it wanted something more. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the retro style and the cast (not just the main characters)! Cute, cute, adorable... 4 stars.

Braveheart (1995)

English There's nothing to fault in this masterpiece. Mel Gibson handled the role of director and main character perfectly. A few heroic scenes and a few brave words, underlined by James Horner's fantastic score, are all it takes to make a perfect historical drama. Freedooooooom!

If Only (2004)

English I can't get enough of this, and I've probably never cried as much at a movie as I did at this one. The beautiful words are still ringing in my head. A film that got deep under my skin.

X-Men (2000)

English So finally, after watching First Class, I filled my gap and checked out the first installment of X-Men. I'm quite pleased with the film, even if it falls well short of the 5th installment in effects and script. Some of the characters are still not as detailed (Storm, Mystique). As sci-fi, of course, it is above average, hence the well-deserved 4 stars.
